ABOUT

Each student has their own unique life journey and learning math can become an arena for self growth and discovery.

Each student has their own learning style that needs to be respected and encouraged. At the same time each student should conquer areas that need improvement so that they develop versatility and a wide range of skills.

It is the teacher’s responsibility to set high expectations for students and then to help them achieve those high goals by giving clear instructions in more than one way, with many examples and analogies, and by being approachable and available to answer their questions. Understanding is not always instant and it takes repetition and consistency to acquire knowledge and solidify skills.

Math and any learning should be done with gusto and enthusiasm combined with patience and a willingness to do mistakes. The importance of learning math is not only in being able to manipulate numbers but in the potential development it offers to become a problem solver and a thorough thinker. Doing well in math has a magical effect on a child and boosts their self confidence in many areas.

A teacher is an instrument that can shine light on knowledge and ideas and can cause students to shine as individuals.
